A superb athlete, he took part in three International Deaf Games – Amsterdam, Netherlands 1928, Nurnberg, Germany 1931 and London, England 1935 for both football and athletics.
As Captain, he Great Britain to their 1st ever Gold at Amsterdam, Netherlands 1928. Won a second gold for football at London, England 1935.
Helped Glasgow Athletic Deaf FC win the Healey National Football Shield on their first outing.
A prominent member of Maryhill Harriers Athletics Club (Glasgow) for many years.
